Media personality and Metro Fm DJ Lerato Kganyago was all set to host of the 2016 Chevrolet Feather Awards, anlongside producer and actor Lumako Johnson
Then just the day before the event, she was replaced. Actress Khanya Mkangisa hosted instead.
Khanya had to step in just hours before the organizers announced that Lerato would no longer be hosting the event due to her busy schedule, while she it was because of “unforeseen circumstances”.
In a statement, Feather Awards founder Thami Kotlolo said: “Our schedules could not meet. She is extremely busy; so we decided to release her as our host.”
However, a source close to the awards reveals to us that Lerato was actually fired by the organizers.
“The reason they decided to let her go is because she failed to abide by some conditions of the contract, which included publicity appearances for the awards.”
The source also claims this was why Lerato was a no show on the night.
“During the show, some of the presenters threw shade at Lerato,” our source reveals.
We tried to contact Lerato, but she was unavailable for comment. Meanwhile, the organizers confirmed that they are sticking to their initial statement.
