Eight-month-old baby survives crash

A baby and four adults escaped serious injury after their car rolled over and landed on its roof on the R56 in the Baynesfield area between Pietermaritzburg and Richmond, ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing Harduth said on Monday.

The accident happened late on Sunday
When paramedics arrived they found the vehicle down an embankment in a bush.

“Three females, a man and baby believed to be aged no more than eight months were assessed. Patients had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate,” said Bodasing Harduth.

“They were treated and transported to hospital for further assessment and medical care. The age range of the adults ranged from about 25 to 58 years.”

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
